Prom versions for Maxtracs ?

Post by Satelite »

Ok i`m confused again.
On a maxtrac300 32ch you use the V5.34 prom. (HLN5569A)
On a canadian 99ch special version maxtrac the VS5.35 prom is used. (VLN5443A)
But i had a maxtrac with 16 pin logic bd go screwy and it had a prom version V5.36 (HLN5569B)
So i decided to blank a HLN cant remember the bd number now but it was a 5 pin logic bd with the removable prom and a DALLAS chip.
This was a 800 mhz 2ch conventional originaly with talk around and repeater.
Changed out the front with the multi ch head and put in the V5.34 prom and reinitiated as a 800 15 watt 16ch with scan .
Radio refused to power up on the head display ect but would during initiation make a beep now and then during the programming process.
Then i got the wild left field idea of putting in the V5.36 prom and reinitated as the same and evrything woks fine up to 16ch with scan ect.
Anybody know anything more about what the V5.36 was actualy used for ect and what all it could be used for other than the Dallas 5 pin logic bd with removable prom ?
I have kept a record of versions of proms in the many maxtracs i have been into but this V5.36 is a new one to me.
Thank You.

I recall a couple of posts about the 5.36 version from years ago...even Monty didn't know exactly what it was all about. Yours is the first post I've seen where it seems to have made a difference in lieu of the 5.34 version.
