Does anyone have any info on the digital data flow to control the radios connected to a Gold Elite console? Conventional and TRS.
I believe it to be RS232 levels. Could be wrong though.
Anyone know what the data stream format is to do the
different control functions of the radio and display the front
panel info fed back to the console?

What type of radios are you refering to? If it is multi-channel tone remote, there is no digital data. It is done by tone remote function tones (in-band audio signalling).

Conventional channels connected to a Gold Elite console have three types of keying available, relay, DC, and tone remote. None of these involve any 'data' communications between the CEB and the radio resource.
Trunked systems use lots of data communications [none of it user accessable] to key the radios, display PTT ID, do private calls, etc. Just how that takes place depends on the system type. Smartnet systems use a TIMI card in the CEB to communicate to the trunking controller. Smartzone systems employ a complex architecture where the CEBs have digital interfaces to the Ambassador digital switch which has a digital interface to the Zone Controller.
The only situations where the console has a digital relationship to an individual base station are for signalling equipped channels [e.g. MDC] and Astro channels.
MDC channels employ an MDC modem card. This encodes and decodes MDC signalling packets and does have an serial interface to the operator interface in the CEB through a BLN6664 I/O card. This interface is used to communicate inbound ID, acknowledgements,etc. and outbound data messages [such as inhibit, call alert, etc.] Base station PTT is still conventional [relay, DC, or tone]. The CEB to modem protocol appears to be undocumented [proprietary].
Astro channels can be connected through an Astro Communications Interface Module [ACIM] The ACIM is similar to an MDC modem card. The ACIM communicates with the operator interface on the CEB side and with a DIU on the radio side.
All base station control and subscriber level signal functions [ID, call alert, inhibit, etc.] take place through these data connections. The DIU translates the console specific protocol into a combination of base station control commands and over the air data. All of that communication takes place between the DIU and the base station [e.g. Quantar] through the V.24 or Astro modem connection.
The console can similarly communicate through an ACIM to a properly configured Astro XTL5000 consolette. The CEB to ACIM and ACIM to radio protocols do not appear to be documented [proprietary]

If you're simply referring to the data communications between the COIM card in the CEB and the CIE operator position, it's RS232 at 9600 baud.

I don't think that it is RS232 between the COIM and CIE. It runs on twisted pair (2-pair of the 7-pair cable) up to 1000 feet or so. I would have to look at the manuals, but I would guess RS422 or 485.If you're simply referring to the data communications between the COIM card in the CEB and the CIE operator position, it's RS232 at 9600 baud
