Tone Remote Mode Steering

Post by KE9GK »

Ok Everyone...I'm not sure if this topic belongs here or in the site equipment forum...but here it goes anyway....

I have quite a few Tone Remote Adapters made by Gai-Tronics ITA-2000's. They all have 16 channel mode steering capabilities via the different control tones sent by the console or desksets etc. The theory of how and why it works I understand. My question is, what /\/\ or other brand radio supports mode steering through the accessory connectors the way the adapters were intended? I have one hooked to a 16 channel maxtrac now and it functions just fine....but from what I have seen in the RSS the maxtrac accy. connector configurations dont support anything like that. Am I just braindead and in typical mother moto fassion the configurations aren't as obvious as I am hoping, or is the maxtrac just not capable of supporting this?

I have a Command Plus that I am going to be using and I would like to make use of the 16 software selectable channels per resource capabilities on a few of the channels.

In short WHAT RADIO'S SUPPORT THE MODE STEERING??

Thanks

Most of the Motorola radios don't let you have access to the
channel steering in BCD format like the other companies have.
Most of Motorola interfacing is done at the RS232 level or in
the data flow of the bus + and bus - lines.

The CDM and CM series supports channel steering, as does the GM300. With the proper firmware & LAB RSS, you can change your Maxtracs to M216's, which were also capable of channel steering. MCS2000 can do it as well...that's about all I can think of off-hand.

Through wildcard programming, Quantars and MTR2000s can channel channel in response to FTs over the Tx line.

Mode Steering

Post by KE9GK »

Thanks for the info everyone. Just for my information then....will any 16 pin GM300 or CDM support the mode steering then, or are there only special "revsions" of the radios that do that? Also, on the GM300 is it an obvious selection when configuring the accy port in the RSS or are there "weird" not obvious settings that I would have to use to get it to work?

Thanks Again

Any GM or CDM should do it, and the settings are obvious in the accessory pin configuration screens.
