NIMH batteries in Minitor III?

Post by Asst17-1 »

Anyone having any issues using NIMH's in their pager and using the desktop charger. I need to order batteries and have heard from people that the NIMH's work fine. I just want to check before I order a case of them.

We have had 2 failures with NiMH batteries. Both were leakage issues. One ruined the pager.
After investigating, we found the chargers are not NiMH compatable. In speaking with the battery manufacturer (Panasonic), they confirmed that a constant current charger (like the Minitor chargers are) can cause venting of the cells.

We now only use the recomended NiCad batteries.

I expect that many have used the NiMh batteries without issue (yet).

If you don't over charge the batteries (max 10 hours), you may get away with it.
