Maxtrac mic. on Syntor-x
Hi all, Has anyone ever adapted a Maxtrax mic. to a Syntor-x or has anyone made an adapter to do same?. Thank you . Davie
A Stranger is just a friend you havent met yet
If I'm not mistaken, the Syntor and Syntor X both required dynamic mics. If you do a search here I think you'll find info on an electret-to-dynamic adapter that was posted in the past by....I'm guessing - Wavetar. It was only one transistor, and I seem to recall that he reported that it worked quite well.
The Maxtrac/Radius mobile mics are electricly the same as the Syntor, Micor, Mitrek, and even the Spectra. The cable and connector IS different.
Many of us have made up adaptors to be able to use the Maxtrac/Radius/ Gm series mics on other mobile radios.
Motorola mobile mics since the early 60's are the amplified type.

Davie,
The wires on some mics are that tinsel stuff.
The Syntor, Micor, Mitrek, MCX, mics do have tinsel cords and the molded connector. The Micor cords use crimp pins that are soldered to the switch and mic element, or in the later Mics, solder to the circuit board
The Maxtrac light colored mics have a solderable cable, the black ones.. some older ones have tinsel.
In one case I used the connector from a dead Micor cord and put a 8 pin modular jack on it to use the Maxtrac/Radius/GM series mics. On the black Maxtrac/GM mics the Spectra cord will fit the housing with just a small fitting at the strain relief.
