2 Radios on same coax..

Post by RoundnRound »

Hey guys,

Wondeing if I would be able to put 2 CDM1150's, both the same uhf split, on the same coax leading to an antenna on top of our PD. Or if there is such a device that would allow this without blowing up either radio. Thanks for the help.

Yes there is such a device. It's called a control station combiner.

Tx-Rx makes them [as do others], see: http://www.txrx.com/

You probably won't like the price.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

but in the meantime while you decide on what to do "do not" connect the two togather, if you transmit on one it will feed it directly into the other and probablly damage both radios. your cheapes rout will be to run two lines and two antennaes.

I don't understand how these "control station combiners" which I'm not familiar with, will solve the problem, a partial quote:

http://www.txrx.com/product/product_vie ... 80FC679D61

"Single antenna-port mobiles may be connected to these combiners to provide operation on two-antenna configurations (one Tx and one Rx), or through a duplexer to a single antenna (i.e. Tx/Rx)."

Also, these have considerable insertion loss.

Seems to me that if the two UHF radios are simplex, what he really needs is a duplexer

that would work as long as only one channel is programmed in each radio and they are simplex. if there is multiple channels then the control station combiner is the way to go.
much cheaper just to drill another hole.
