Spectra H/L on display, can i make it say something else?

Spectra H/L on display, can i make it say something else?

instead of saying H/L on on my spectra when I press H/L, could I make it flash my call sign, or F#$@ YOU, or HAMSEXY on the display.... that would be mad chill. if it can, im sure it takes lab?

no, it's permanent in the flourescent display but you can name the channels anything you want.

yea, i get that the channels can be made to anything, but i still want the channel text to be there, just like every 5 seconds after i press the the H/L button instead of the channel name it flashes H/L ON instead of W2GSB-R, and i wanted to make that into something else, when you say "its permanant in the flouresent display" i take it you mean like when it says N PRI on the top when you are scanning,.

but the H/L on appears where the channel text was.

thanks, i figured it would be too good to be true.

The "H/L ON" comes from the uP in the radio, and the uP probally reads it from somewhere within the MLM.

Just as the uP looks up the Alpha num on each channel and sends that out to the control head. (on A5 & A7 heads).
