VHF Visar problem

Post by kd4lcy »

I recently bought a VHF Visar (model# H05KDH9AA7BN). Since the radio came with no battery, I bought a new battery. I charged the battery and turned the radio on, the problem radio would not come on. I bought the radio for possible Amateur use.

I am not a techhican so I have no way of checking any further.
Any ideas or thoughts or do I just need to find someone to run the radio through the wringer. Thanks for any assistance.

First thing to check is the small rectangular surface mount fuse located near the power contacts on the RF board. Chances are it's the problem. If that checks ok, bring it to a dealer as it could be just about anything.

Thanks Todd.
I tried to check the fuse but my "meters" are cheapos.
One time I would get a negative reading, next time a positive reading. Like I said before I'm no technician but I know a "little" about radios and I do have the very basic equipment. I used radios for 20 years as a career. I just don't trust my limited repair skills.
Just now I will have to find a shop that I can trust.
Thanks again Todd.
