Simplex GM300

Post by twowheel56 »

Hey has anybody connected a simplex audio repeater to a 16pin type radio, GM300, SM50, etc. I have one of the old radio shack units that I have plugged into a SP50 and it works fine. But I would also like to connect it to a GM300 that I'm using as a base. Any suggestions are welcomed!!

The pinout of the GM300 accessory connector can be found at the main BatLabs site but I'd reccomend against hooking up that Radio Shack simplex patch, I fooled with (4) of them a few years back and none of them worked right. A locked PTT line could cause a meltdown.

If you want to use it as a base pick up a Rat shack mobile (19-120 I believe), it has the "speaker mike" jack already on it. Why it's on there I don't know, but its there!

This is assuming you're using VHF.

Another option is hooking up your portable to a power amp, and running an external antenna (if your license allows this)
