sidetone and Singletone<<-- what's the difference

In reference to the /\/\ Saber radios, what's the difference between signletone and sidetone?

Sidetone is a tone generated by the radio's speaker while any sort of signalling is transmitted.

Singletone is a signalling system, transmitted over the air by the radio, consisting of... a single tone. Commonly used by the railroads.
