MTR2000 POWERSUPPLY FAILURE ALARM

Post by JMINN »

I have a 100w UHF MTR2000 repeater with ac powersupply. Periodically during self test it will give powersupply fail alarm. It will also intermittently give this alarm in diag. The power supply has never failed, and the repeater has never had a problem. I have had to turn off the over air alarm beep because of this. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Yes I have seen this happen when the voltage at the ac plug was not 110V, like over 130V. The station worked fine even without the proper ac voltage.

I have seen where the 28Vdc will fall below 25Vdc during station transmit, causing the boot-up testing failure & becoming highlighted in the metering screen. Have you checked it's level in the metering screen? Bad A/C possibilities aside, the P.A. is likely on it's way to failure.

Oh, I have also seen this when the original heavy gauge A/C cable was lost & someone hacked up a 'regular' cable to fit into the power supply socket.
