XTS5000 stunned
OK, without going into detail regarding my stupidity, is there any way to re-enable a stunned XTS 5k? I will only use it on conventional this time. I have not tried reading or programming or anything yet. I don't have a stored codeplug for it (HD crashed on the programming computer). Any ideas???
I'll see your 4.1 and raise you a 7.13
The Astro25 products program only with CPS - so there aren't any S-record or DOS RSS tricks that will work around this issue. With earlier radios all you had to do to cancel an inhibit was read the radio and write the codeplug back to it. The Astro25 CPS has been designed in such a way that it can read or write the radio but it won't reset the disabled condition.
If you read an inhibited radio with the CPS - it will tell you the radio has been inhibited and it will tell you what your two options are - either have the radio re-enabled by whoever inhibited it - or send it to the depot [and be prepared to deal with the questions they will no doubt have for you]

Sorry dude. This is why software is licensed, and system keys are supposed to be proprietary and secret.
If you are an otherwise authorized user on whatever system you got zapped on, chances are the sysadmin is already looking for you. I would expect a grilling or unemployment.
If it is not your system or you are NOT an authorized user, nice paperweight, eh?
I don't think anyone on this board would be inclined to publicly help you out of this jam (at least if they are in their right minds!) good luck.

well, I guess /\/\ did something right for a change (for the valid users, anyway). oh well, now I have an extra batt, charger, mic, face and PAboard. Maybe I can find a command board on fleebay eventually and bring the radio back to life. Thanks for the info everyone.
Tip to anyone using the XTS series as a "scanner"...
DON'T DO IT!!!

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
