QCII on an M1225.

I have tried setting up QCII decoding on my high-band M1225, and I can't get it to work. My setup is as follows: call format=a-b/a-d/c-d; call type=call alert/w voice; signalling squelch, auto alert tone reset, auto conversation tone reset, and pl/dpl required are all de-selected, and horn/lights is off. When the tones that it is set for are sent, nothing happens. It's as if paging wern't even activated. What am I doing wrong?

It will only work if you have the option board in the radio motorola part #hln9424. Do you know if the board is in the radio?

I've put a few QCII boards in m1225s, the ones I did were part#
HLN9511B with an HLN9345A install kit, is the part# you gave a combination of those 2 maybe?

Also, if you installed the above mentioned kit, you must cut a link on the board in the top back of the radio. It's been a while since I did one but it is clearly marked on the supplied instructions. Good luck!

I don't recall having to cut a link either.. this is the little advantage board that mounts with 3 screws and connects with a flex cable, right?

That's the one. It had the stand-offs and screws to raise it above the main board, the board itself, and the small flex. Mine was a 40 watt 20 ch and it deffinately would not work until I cut that link. I called /\/\ tech support and they faxed me a printout of where it was. The reason I remeber it is because I sold the radio without the board and had to solder the link back. Who knows with Big /\/\, it may have been the only one they made like that. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen some strange incidents with identical /\/\ models having some little something different.

the model radio I've put them in is M43DGC90E2AA, 4 ch. 40w vhf.
I used the board and install kit I mentioned earlier, I don't recall instructions coming with it, I followed the instructions in the service manual, nothing about cutting a jumper.
Still curious what the difference between an hln9424 and an hln9511b is. I suppose I could find out, but it would probably mean talking to a salesman, something I try to avoid... ;)

HLN9424 is the Advantage board install kit for the P1225 portable and the HLN9511 is the Advantage board.

I looked up both part numbers on the Access Point C/D upgrade /\/\ just sent me.

HLN9424 comes up as Portable instalation kit $28.25.

HLN9511B comes up as 1225 Quick Call II Advantage Board Kit $78.00.

HLN9345A comes up as board install kit $28.75

I bet it makes a difference between the 4 ch and the 20 ch as to the modifications you would need to make such as opening that link. If I remember correctly it had something to do with audio. With the link closed the board would not open up to the tone. When the board was removed I had no audio and had to close the link and it worked fine. I've searched all over to find the fax they sent me so I could I.D. the link # but can't find it. I just moved into my new shop so I'll come across it and post it when I do. I do have the operations book that came with the board kit and it is a M001S Protocal full series interface.

Hey, I've been looking for these part numbers and a quote on 10-20 boards... part number listed here is cancelled it says....???

Any new info would be appreciated! [especially jumper cutting or 4/20ch radio difference info]

Yeah, I finally got in touch with MOL and they told me the same thing, referring me to Midian.

Midian has the boards, but they are not direct replacement, must be wired in, and use a seperate programmer/cable.

Now my question is, how do you program the radio per channel to route through the board and mute for signalling?
Just program a button for generic board?
Been a while since I went digging in an M1225 sig option.

Second question is then, why not just use any brand, wired in board?

Transcrypt? or Selectone? to save some bucks... worthwhile or no?
Midian's boards run $120-130 each, w/quant. discount.
