Apologies if this has already been discussed here, but I am trying to find some more information on the primary operation of an MTX 8000. It is listed as being “Dual Mode Trunked”. I understand that this is capable of both trunking and conventional operation. What I need to know is will it support type I or type II (or both) trunking systems.
While we are on the topic of trunking, what is the status of type I trunking systems? Are they still supported?
Thanks for any and all info,
WEC

"B5" & "B7" models will support Type I/II/IIi operation. I have never seen a native 'factory' B3 model support anything but Type I operation. I have seen models which appeared to be "B3" units, but the model number ended with "F3". These units supported Type I/II/IIi as well.
Motorola no longer supports Type I trunking systems...the Type I capable controllers such as SmartWorks/Startsite recently went 'end of support' life, and the newer MTC3600 controllers are Type II operation only (or so I'm told).
