Earliest Verison of MTSX Lab Software?

Post by RADIO43 »

Guys,

Does anyone know the earliest verison of MTSX Lab Software? The oldest I have seen is 02.00.00. Is there a 01.00.00? Thank you in advance.

I'm sure there's been a corresponding LAB for every 'regular' version of RSS created. However, I personally haven't seen anything earlier than 2.00.01.

On that note...out of curiosity ... what is the latest LAB? Or does it directly coincide with the version of the RSS (does CPS have LAB??)?

R06.07 Labtool is one of the "newer" versions that come to mind.. It's probably not the latest revision though.

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Every version of RSS has the ability to "become" lab. That is to say, RSS contains all the "hidden" features of Lab/Depot. The only difference is that regular RSS supresses those fields. I've seen somebody take Astro 9.05 and "turn on" certain lab features such as the ability to read/write codeplugs without packing/unpacking, umong other things.

If someone was crafty enough, you could easily create MTSX Lab 06.07.00. The question is why though, as the version 3 that's kicking around does everything already.

Thanks!

I'll bet you have to be a genius with Hex Editor or a decompiler, huh?

It's not impossible but you're right, you're going to have to spend a LOT of time messing around. No, I haven't spent said time personally!

I've heard the actual 6.xx LAB contains a "fix checksum" type of option that clears toolproofing errors. That would be a major reason....it's only what I heard though, I can't confirm it.
