XTS5000 after market RF adapter

Post by radioguy77 »

Does anyone know of an after market RF adapter or pig tail that I can screw into the top of my XTS5000 so I can connect to a mag mount on my car.

You can’t use a standard SMA female connector on Motorola radios. The center pin (on the radio, Thanks Moto!!) is deeper in the connector and will not make a good connection, if any at all.

Tessco (http://www.tessco.com) sells one under P/N 34211. It is RF Industries 410-28. They list at $5.90. BNC to SMA

We have had problems with that one from Tessco (RF Industries) in some Motorola radios.

We now use the SMA bulkhead style. The threaded section is much longer and fits into all Motorola radios with a positive fit.

It is an RF Industries RSA-3413

The Amphenol P/N is 901-167-2. I think that is the one tha Moto sells for $$$.

We use the RF Indust. one at work, I have not run into any problems, or heard of any with them and we have 9 techs. They are made for the Motorola SMA connector. What model of radios did you have the problems with? I'll watch out for that.
