Cimarron Cplus And terminal programming?

Post by FMROB »

Ok, I am lost??

I have term set up, cable connected to comm port and Cplus unit. I power up the cimarron and get a bunch of "y"'s on the screen.

I try entering commands, and nothing.

Anyone have any info or pointers on this equipment? Thanks, Rob

Assuming you have plugged the Cimarron cable into your computer and the CPlus unit, and started a terminal emulation for direct (i.e., non-dial) communications at 9600 baud, 8-N-1, type $$CPlus. The decoder should respond with the top menu, and you proceed as per page 20 and following of the manual.

As a general rule, program the date and time first to test that the device is responding correctly. Next you'll have to set the ANI format (the device defaults to GE Star). Next set display type (unless you have a good reason for doing otherwise, select "message and assignment").

After that, programming depends on your customer's particular needs. In addition to an alias table, note that you will have to make an adjustment to the message table if do NOT want the unit to beep in decoding of PTT-ID for unaliased units.

Also, pay close attention to the jumper settings, which are defaulted to unbalanced, high-impedence on the Rx line.
