Tighten Squelch? (MTS2000)

Post by High_order1 »

So, I am where I can start programming the Devil Radio (thanks to all who assisted!!)

The radios' busy light blinks ALL THE TIME. I have checked B+, and think it's within specs.

I am thinking somehow it is detecting something that opens the carrier squech part, but doesn't open the speaker because it doesn't detect tone.

Is this a Squelch (Fine Tune) setting problem or is it a mute/unmute problem (I've set all personalities to Standard using CPS).

What squelch setting do I want? Systems have PL tx and rx.

Oh - I've monitored using a HT1000 - it's not picking up whatever the Devil Radio is hearing.

Finally, one system I am listening to is primarily Kenwood. I am having a issue with squelch closure. Is this that 'reverse burst' thing I've read about?

Thanks in advance,

-Shawn

I'm curious what you mean by Devil Radio, but anyway, are you sure the squelch tuning softpots are aligned enough? I've played with them on one of my radios, turn them down low enough the radio keeps squelch opened all the time and you get exactly what you got (blinking Rx LED, ruins Smart PTT), if the Conv. Personality has a PL/DPL then it won't open the speaker. CSQ and you'll probably hear static.

I'd say check the squelch tuning softpots.
