Re: Minitor 5 Charger Squeal
They have had a lot of problems with the chargers. You might want to see if they will fix it, replace it for you. We had over 50 replaced not to long ago.Two Tone wrote:Whenever I put my minitor 5 into the charger, the base makes a squealing noise. Any ideas? Id hate to have to buy a new one. No warrenty

It is normal. They all do that. There is no problem and there is nothing Motorola will do about it. Best advice, put in the charger about 30 minutes before you go to sleep. By the time you climb in bed, it will have dropped down to trickle charge (green light) and the noise will be gone.

- What radios do you own?: Motorola Syntor X9000.....
Is it standard or the Amp'ed charger?
See if the dealer you bought it from can exchange it.Have seen it done for V 6 months past warranty expiration.Motorola has been very accomodating in this matter.
As previously mentioned ,getting a second spare battery to charger when your not sleeping and do swap outs.$12 or so each I think now.
The squeal is not a danger AFAIK but it annoys some people and keeps some people up at night.
Not me.I snore too loduly and drown it all out.

I had the exact same problem with the standard charger. when the pager was inserted it would make a squeal noise until the green led cam on. I had a total of 10 chargers that did this. New batteries did not make a difference.
I called MOTO and complained and they sent me new Rev. B chargers which solved the problem. I think this is a known problem but they probably won't fess up to it.

Re: Minitor 5 Charger Squeal
Had a Minitor V charger amp at the depot since March and received a replacement "C" version back today. Haven't had a chance to test it but keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Minitor 5 Charger Squeal
Anybody had a chance to use the "C" amp yet?
We tried one last week and it made squeeling noises and killed the pager. The pager is now dead even after trying several batteries.
