I'm using CPS 4 to program an MCS2000 UHF conventional with Model 2 control head. All goes well, but it does not offer or allow SCAN to be programmed to any control head button. It offers almost every other function to each button, but not scan.
Scan lists are enabled and no errors are reported by the CPS.
Am I overlooking something very basic and simple here ?
CPS won't Allow or Offer SCAN in MCS2000

Is SCAN programmed as a menu item? If so take itout of the menu, and you should be able to program the key then.Leadenwah wrote:I'm using CPS 4 to program an MCS2000 UHF conventional with Model 2 control head. Send me the codeplug, and I'll take a look if you get stuck.
Jim.
Jim,
By Golly, that's it ! You're absolutely right, I did put SCAN in the Menu and without giving it any real thought. I guess I was thinking about the Menu in the Jedis and just didn't think it mattered.
That cable is a nice piece of work. I read and programmed it today for the first time since I got it on about March 17. I was so thrilled to see PROGRAMMING flash across the display.
This is another very big help.
Many thanks,
Geo

I was under the impression that CPS ver 2 something was the latest ???

Whoops! Quite right.
It IS CPS 2.xx.xx being used on the MCS2000, my mistake. CPS 4 is, as they say, another story and another radio, a separate adventure so to speak.
Until I got the new cable, I darned near went cross-eyed trying to get the radio to read.
MCS2000: a little too expensive. Finally getting a working programming cable: worth its weight in gold. Someone who knows what they're doing helping someone who does not: PRICELESS !

Well, Jim,
This cable is Beautiful. Waiting one more day is a drop in the bucket compared to what I've had to deal with so I'm very, very pleased.
I think I'm going to have to get an accessory connector for the speaker cable. the one thad came with the radio is a bit of a homebrew type.
Many thanks again !
