MotoTrbo, issue with driver on Windoze2000

Post by RF_Burns »

Anyone having trouble getting the drivers to work properly for MotoTrbo under win2k?
I was able to install the program and driver, but only able to read or write the radio once, then it can't see the radio anymore.

Moto says, uninstall/re-install.. ok.. been there.. read or write once and thats it! Moto says upgrade to XP.. i say no thanks.

anyone else have an issue?

you are having the opposite problem of most on here, you can't program the old radios on a new computer running xp and it's the same for the opposite, you can't expect new software to run on old machines. that cps was made while xp was out so that's pretty much what you need. but now that vista is out i don't know if you can even get xp anymore.

TRBO isn't approved for vista, and I had a bithc of a time on Server 2003.

Don't know about Win2K though. "Should" be good as long as you are SP4 or later.

Says on the CD win2k, XP, computer isn't that old, but we went with 2k because its as close to stable for us as Bill Gates gets.

I hope his products never get into fly-by-wire systems!

open internet explorer and click on tools and run windows update and check the box that says custom and run it then install all of the updates that are listed and re install it and see what that does for you?

On XP it seems to want to install the driver every time I read a radio. I wonder if 2k is having hiccups and it's related to this nonsense?

Every machine we have installed the TRBO CPS on it has prompted us to install the drivers twice and then left us alone. We are also finding that the computer will not recognize the radio when connect first time around sometimes and we have to reboot the radio.

What build version of the CPS are you running? I haven't had any problems yet with build 59 on 2 XP machines & 1 Win2k machine. I have another Win2k machine I can try it on when I get a chance. What service pack for Win2k, 6 or 6a?

Neither, I suspect, since 2k's last service pack was SP4.

Trying to run Build 59, win2k SP4

Tried it on a new computer running XP yesterday. It ran fine till we loaded Error Tracer, then it too was lost. Removed error tracer and it works again.

Removed error tracer from the Win2k machine, no good. Uninstall, re-install without error tracer, no go.

Doh, that's what I get for answering before my morning coffee. Yes, I'm running SP4 & everything seems fine on the one machine I've tried it on so far.
