mcx1000 receiving problem

Post by 3delta »

I can program the radio in the 2 meter ham band and it will transmit on 145.xxx but will not receive. Can the receiver be tuned to receive there? it receives above 146.000 perfectly.

What radios do you own?: Motorola, Icom, Sunair (HF).

Retuning the receivers in either the MCX100 or 1000 is a bit tricky. When you do your programming, the RSS will present you with the appropriate high and low filter tuning frequencies. What I usually do is program those two additional freqs in, at least temporarily, as receive-only and then tune the high and low preselectors using them.

You need, at bare minimum, an accurate and well-calibrated RF signal generator to do the job. A service monitor would be even better. If you do not have, or have access to, this equipment, I can do the job for you at my normal rates. I've done several of these for other hamateurs.

Details on http://www.bluefeathertech.com/rf.html if needed.

Happy tweaking.

And I'm still trying to figure out why my unmodded Syntor X9000 doesn't unlock the VCO at 144.39MHz....
