CDM 1550 remote mount kit removal

Post by mmb »

I just got a CDM1550 it has the remote mount kit attached...my question is how do I remove the remote mount kit as I want to put it back as a self contained unit? I can get the bracket off the remote head but can't get the part off the radio chassis front...

Use the separation tool that was provided with the kit, and use some finesse. If you are not going to be using the remote mount you can probably muscle it a little and risk the damage, besides I think the replacements are only a $10-12 or less.

if you don't have the tool you can either try a flathead screw driver or buy one, they are only about $5

Another thing you can try is to use an old expired credit card or something similar like maybe an old used up plastic gift card.

That way the plastic card won't wreck the casing.

If you don't plan on using it anymore, I'll buy it off of you!!

Where could I get this tool? I have a Motorola Account but not sure where on their site to find it?

There is also a part that is removed when putting the remote kit on the radio, sort of a bezel that the head fits onto, you'll need to get one of those.

Thanks to some nice folks on this board I now have the "bezel" part on the way...BUT, I can't seem to get the remote adapter piece off the radio chassis, I've tried credit cards, knives, screwdrivers, etc, all no joy, all I'm doing is managing to chip up the case of the remote adapter.....??????
The one on the head came off easily

It just snaps on, should come off easily.. a screwdriver along the bottom edge should certainly do it, could someone have glued it on?

I got it off & back assembled as one unit, now it seems I have a NEW ISSUE....the unit scans or SAYS it's scanning but never receives any traffic...if you manually scan through the channels it receives fine, just not in "system scan" mode.... I don't get it, I've got a CDM1250 and I've set this radio up just like it but nothing, the scan arrow icon is on but it stays & reverts back to channel 1 no matter what I do....

I had a problem like that with a 1250, I added "selected" to the scan list and that fixed it.
