MTS2000 that locks up while RXing & changing CH

Post by Grog »

I just bought what is supposed to be a MTS2000. When I turn the CH knob past a certain CH that has activity, the radio locks up. The Display won't change, the squelch opens up, and the volume does not change either.

So far it's only done it with one CH, but the others that are programmed are not too active, so I haven't really been able to test. I'm not sure when I'll be able to read the codeplug and see if that is an issue (IE::bad programming)

Sucks to be stuck with a junker radio

Grog, I have seen some MTS2000 radios do strange and unpredictable things if a secure board was removed first and not removed in the cps/rss first. Do you know the radio's history?

I bought it off this board, that's all. I have an older codeplug that was in it, but not the current. The old codeplug is so cluttered with stuff, that I'll have to see where the secure settings are.

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

While you're at it, check to see if zone select was enabled on a side button, I have seen MTS2000's do weird things if zone select is assigned to anything other than a menu key, including lock ups like you described. If I can help in any way, send me the codeplug in email and I'll be glad to look at it for you. Sometimes a second set of eyes helps.

Yeah, if both a switch or button both have the same function assignment, they will do goofy stuff.
