Was just wondering if any one has noticed or would have any info on this.

I was looking into ordering some new keypad buttons for my spectra's and just happen to notice that ther is every letter but Z.

This is, in essence, the same explanation that I've heard for over 30 years from old telco guys, both Bell and Indie.

The "keypad" follows the telephone company dial pad, commonaly known as a "DTMF keypad".

The letters q and Z were not part of the telephone exchange names and were not needed on the new pushbutton phones.

Example of a telephone number back when the "push button dial pad was intruduced.... CL 2156, CA 4456, ELgin 4658,.. ect..
