conertacom for MTS2000

I am looking at buying a convertacom from ebay tghe notes say "Up for auction is a Motorola enhansed convertacom excelent unit for Fire or EMS personel.Fits Mt1000, HT600, and the MTX Series. Comes with power cable, Mic, and speaker" I cant copy the picture to this note but I would like to know if it will work as a stand alone with my mts2000 in my car or will I need cotrollwers ect as with the mtva type

That convertacom will not work with your MTS-2000 at all. The MTS is a "Jedi" radio, and the radios on your list from the auction are "Genesis" radios which preceeded the Jedi line. It is a completely different product line and the only thing common between them are that they were made by Motorola.

You want a MTVA, which is a convertacom for the Jedi series. It consists of at least two seperate componets: the radio pocket & a controller unit. The controller unit may or may not have a built in rf power amp. If it has the rf power amp, then it is band specific. If it doesn't, then it isn't band specific. Other componets include an external mic & amplified speaker.

There is one on eBay right now with a rf PA for 800 MHz but it's not my auction so I can't post a link.

I Think the confusion comes from the fact that there are mtx-8000 and mtx-9000 that are jedi series, and mtx-800 810 900 that are genesis based.
