HT-1250 What is Escalert ??????

I noticed on my HT-1250 that in the menu it has Escalert. What is this?

I believe that this is the same sort of thing that they put in the pagers. It should translate to it beeping quietly, but if you don't reset the page or other notification, it keeps getting louder.
