I am haveing a discussion with a friend about com speeds. Can anyone tell me if RSS runs on a computer but com fails between computer and radio how to get around this? I seem to remember years back that some programs required you to create a virture memory, would that help? If so how is that done?

Are you running DOS or are you running the DOS that runs
under Windows? Best way to get a DOS RSS to work right
is to boot from DOS 6.22. Com port "speed" is not an issue,
but what the OS does with the com port always is. The RSS
may "run" in the Windows DOS but it oftentimes will not
control the com port and communicate with the radio.

I have had no problems with the above technique and having software read/write. Sometimes it just depends on the computer.tvnews wrote:Hi,

The single best way to "get around" the problem is
to boot in DOS 6.22. Alex is fortunate that his setup
will apparently run DOS under W98SE but in most
people's cases it doesn't work.
DOS 6.22 can be downloaded free of charge. Do a
search on this board for sources, as well for more
information on this subject which has been discussed
again and again and again.

While I agree with Tom, I too have had no issues doing the same as Alex. I program my xts3500, ht1000's, spectra's ect.. this way.

Actually I assumed when he said RSS in the first post that
he meant RSS and not CPS, but after thinking about the
question I wonder if my inference was a correct one.

XTS3500 is DOS RSS only. M never made a CPS version
