That radio is vselp. It could be updated to imbe, but it would require a firmware uplift and a different flash that would add imbe.

How would I go about updating the radio? and is it worth it to do so?

You are in the same boat as I am then. My understanding is that you can send it to motorola, but the flat rate charge is over $300 I believe, or get your local mss to order a flash upgrade for the imbe and firmware refresh. There are people out there who may also be able to offer there services. The hardest part will be the firmware upgrade, its a lot easier to get someone to cram a imbe s record into it. All in all, its probably not worth it, but I like challenges.
