MTS-2000 VHF Help

Post by yardbirdjr »

Hello all!

I have a MTS-2000 Model I VHF Portable.

I was just wandering what it would take to make it a Model II or III.

I don't really care about adding more channels, all I am interested in is the 14 character display that the Model II and III offers.

Please advise

Thanks

David

What is the radios firmware version?

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Just turn it on, and press the side button just above the PTT 5-times in a row.. The display will show the firmware version..

If the firmware happens to be 5.42 or greater, it will be close to impossible to easily convert the radio to a Model II or Model III due to the fact, you would be unable to touch it with Lab.

Yup, should be an A4 6 character top display.

Cool, I stand corrected... I just wasn't sure if the top-display models would show the info after the 5-push.

I think I have to get me one for playing with...

Yep, I believe they show all the normal information that an A5 or A7 would. Model, S/N, Flash, F/W, then rf and function test.
