MTS2000 Fail 01/93
Hi,
Got a buddy with a UHF MTS2000 with a fail 01/93 error. Tried to install crypto module and noticed the error after doing so. Any ideas on this failcode or how to resolve/interpret it? I used to know all the failcodes when I was 17 about 10 years ago now, but since launching into war against Motorola and others I have eliminated all of their crap taking up space in my mind.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: MTS2000 Fail 01/93
Whoops. Just remembered exactly what this is. Looks like I will have to be the bearer of bad news to thins guy. Looks like that was the toolproof error. Has anybody found a fix for that yet to bring radios back? I remember back in 99' on the boards the MTS was pretty much screwed after that. I wonder why he told me it was a crypto module install that caused it.

Because he didn't want to admit he
1) has lab software, or something similar
2) was dumb enough to use it on an mts2000
If you could find someone with a s-record of the same model and flashcode, you should be able to force that in, then do a full retune. Unless of course he saved an s-record of his radio first. If not there are maybe some people he that would be willing to make a working radio of some sort. I think you could also turn it into a international radio.

I wasn't aware this worked ... I was under the impression that if the s-record isn't from THAT radio it won't work. Only because, won't the fingerprint of the s-record be different (if the s-record is from a different radio) from that of the internal fingerprint?Batwings21 wrote:If you could find someone with a s-record of the same model and flashcode, you should be able to force that in, then do a full retune.

"So the best solution is to paint them to blue color and throw them to the sea?" in reference to MTS2000 F01/93.

Another way is to flash it into a MT2100 but your bandsplit must match one of the 2100 series bandsplits.

Sorry for the incorrect info, I've been thinking Astro lately, that is the very kind of trick that would cause a toolproof.

Re: MTS2000 Fail 01/93
Grab the controller with your bare hands and go for a nice run over synthetic carpet and kill it before you flatrate it. Same end result (the radio gets fixed) with less questions, for the same price.
Considering the price of a very good pimped out MTS 2000 on the used market nowadays, I wouldn't bother.
