PROGRAMMING RSS AFTER CPS

Hello. My Astro Saber is programmed with RSS 8.5. It works well & is what my friend has. If the radio is read with newer CPS, but nothing is programmed back in, can the radio still be programmed with RSS? Just wondering. GARY N4KVE
