Centracom CEB...who knows this stuff?

Post by Elroy Jetson »

I've got this.

I can get the CEB for it but all the boards are "pick and choose".

This is apparently set up for 18 talkgroups.

I don't need that much. I'd be happy to make it control one to four channels on one to four base stations/repeaters.

One would really be sufficient.

What would be the most basic possible equipment configuration that would allow me to run this sucker on one conventional channel?

Is this practical? No. But I'd enjoy doing it, particularly as the equipment IS available to me at minimal cost IF I know what I need.
And I don't...but maybe you do, and would be willing to clue me in.

1 timer board
1 BIM Board
and one OMI or TOMI board.
CORI and ROCI if it is remoted from the CEB
ALso 1 RRS232 board for programming and conection to the console.

Don't waste your time with an OMI board unless it's already programmed and matched to the operator position (OP).

Reason being, the OMI is a UV-EPROM based card and it's a major pain to reprogram, not to mention that it does not support all of the "current" features of Centracom (at least for that generation).

An OMI based system = Centracom II
A TOMI based system = Centracom II+ (each TOMI requires an associated AEI card to handle the receive audio).

Get yourself a TOMI and the RS232 card. Then you need a copy of Series2 RSS to program everything. Unless you're fairly familiar with Series2 RSS, it's going to be quite the learning experience.

Each base station will require a BIM (base interface module).

It APPEARS that the console you have was configured for Trunking operation, as I've never seen a console with that many double-density CCM's (Channel Control Modules) in a conventional system. If it was in a trunked configuration, you must have TOMI/AEI cards, as OMI's do not support trunking.

As Bruce said, you'll also need at least one timer card, preferably two... BLN6650.

If you're rebulding the CEB and starting from scratch, you'll need to do all the MUXbus/BusyBus jumpering and set all the TDM addresses for each card. Sure wish the Knowledge Base was up, as I've written a lot of articles on setting these up for folks that are just learning them.

You can view the articles there, but you can not edit or do anything else. Since there are enough of you messing around, and I haven't gotten through the whole conversion of that yet, it'll at least let you reference the material.

Why not just update the CEB parts to Gold Elite? Mostly, what you need is a COIM module. Post your findings after you do, if you do.

A COIM itself is not going to work, you need a CIE to go along with that plus you have to upgrade the firmware to match the existing cards plus the BIMS, AUX I/O cards have to be new enough to be compatable. Oh and last note, some of the backplanes to the CEB are not compatable with the COIM.

Hey, guys, I'm trying to get rid of things that really aren't doing me any good. I'd be happy to take most any semi-reasonable offer for these items.

Shipping won't even be that bad as they're not very heavy.

I want to clean out my storage unit! Help me by taking this off my hands!

Last post in December of last year.

It's long gone, of course.

Hey Alex, unless I am doing something wrong, the link doesn't work.

B1422 is a standard tx/rx BIM.

B1423 is a dual receiver BIM.

B1422A is a BIM (Base Interface Module) as stated.
B1423A is a DRIM (Dual Receive Interface Module.) It is used as a "receive only" resource for either Rx only CCM's, or as part of a TxxR configuration with another BIM.
