R2600C Problem

Post by arlojanis »

My R2600C worked good last time I used it. Today there is a problem with monitor. On monitor with or without signal input, the frequency error reads -16 khz and is constantly changing. Monitor signal input level reads correctly. With signal there is no audio from speaker or on scope. Audio is ok on generate. Squelch will not open. Auto calibrate works ok. Is there anything I can try before shipping to depot?

Sounds like the first place to visit is to reseat all the boards in the unit. Kind of depends on your skill level
if you want to open up the box. If it's out of warrenty, it probably doesn't matter.

With time, sometimes the board connection to the motherboard gets a little flaky. Not saying this is your
trouble, but that's where I would start. Anything above that will probably need to be sent back anyway.

What radios do you own?: What's a radio?

Before you open that box up to re-seat the boards, press the special function key, cursor down to "System Functions" and then press the "NVM Clear" soft key. This key will be the second key from the left below the display. Make sure to press CLEAR not RESET. If you do hit reset, the analyzer will dump ALL of the memory tables AND the current calibration tables. (It will go into self calibrate to generate the 1st new cal table, you will have to activate the self cal later to generate the second one. You will also have to reload any frequency memories you may have had.)

Then, before sending it in, call the depot at 1-800-323-6967 and ask for Ricky. He will probably want you to do the NVM Clear 1st, but he may also think of something that I'm forgetting (it's been a long time since I played with the 2600). Ricky is one of the best techs that was able to stay with the depot when it was sold to CTDI.

Hello Dave. The NVM clear removed the problem. The 2600 is working on signal monitor again. Thanks for saving me a lot of trouble and money. Also the tip you gave me about pausing at stby on the R 2400 power switch was a good one. No more problem at power up.
