Hello all! First time poster and Motorola novice. I am currently working on 800 MHz rebanding projects for Motorola and have come across several issues regarding Maxtrac trunking capabilities specifically in the NPSPAC band, 821-824/866-869 MHz.
1. Can someone verify that Maxtrac's indeed have this capablity?
2. I can't remember where I heard/read but was this capability an upgradable option for the Maxtrac?
3. Could I get a little more background on the concept of "Type Accepted?"
Thanks

Re: Maxtrac Trunking Capabilities
Unless your still on an old trunking system, the Maxtrac 800 radios probably won't work.
The support for them has long since gone by the wayside.
They will not do any splinter channels in the trunking mode.
Motorola will not supply any new firmware to allow these radios to be rebanded.
The "Interoperability" channels in the NPSPAC channels are narrow band. The Maxtrac is not
a narrow band capable radio.
The FCC says that you must use "Type Accepted" radios to operate on both the comercial
and public safety frequencies. This basically means that the radio has passed rigid testing at a lab
to verify it conforms to the specs publish for that radio.
Your best move for the Maxtrac and trunking is to choose another radio.
