PR400 Code Plug Error

I was programming a motorola vhf PR400 and it read the radio fine.I added a few channels to the radio and then selected write to radio.It seemed to write to the radio fine and the radio said program on it so I unplugged the programmer and turned it off then on and I had an error message of EPRM ERR.I think I may have pulled the programmer off to soon not sure.I would like to know if there is some what to edit the code pug in hex software or some thing because it will not let me write to the radio now it tells me cerrupted codeplug.The code plug Version is 3.0 and the software I have is 5.0 if thats makes and diffrence.I would like to know if there is anyway to clear this error and be able to use this radio?

From the sounds of it, you definitely pulled the programming cable too soon, the "programming" onscreen indicates that. The radio would normally re-boot upon completion of programming. I'm afraid your options are very limited. A firmware update might bring the radio back to life, but my thoughts are that it is going to need a trip to the depot to fix it. If it's still within warranty, Motorola likely won't charge you for it, but otherwise it's a flat-rate repair.

If indeed it's not under warranty (and it should be under warranty as these radios have not been out for 2 years) then this is incorrect, all he needs is a software refresh, usually $50-100 depending on the model.

You do need to have it quoted prior to sending it to the depot, or else you will be charged for a flat rate

Possibly, but there could be more to it than a software refresh. I can do a software refresh here in the shop, but if the codeplug's screwed in such a way that it doesn't help, which happens, then what? I'm stuck with paying a flat rate for Motorola to either use their magical LAB software to straighten it out, or I've seen where they replaced the I.C. as well. You're right about the warranty though, there aren't many that are beyond the 2 years yet (although there are some which are).

LAB = considered software refresh at the depot

If there's something wrong with the board then they will quote the flat-rate. If it's just a bad codeplug then it's much less expensive. I know from sending in an HT1550-XLS with a bad codeplug. They tried to flat-rate it but I wasn't having any of it.
