Minitor II SV problem

Post by hailstonewrangler »

I bought a Minitor II SV off of ebay and changed the jumpers, reeds, and swapped the RX board out of a parts pager from my department. The pager worked great for about a week, it would alert to the tones and record the page fine, but now it won't alert or record all the sudden.

The pager will still pick up traffic on both channels, but no alert. I checked the solder jumpers with a multimeter and they are still good from what I can tell.

The pager sometimes will beep and unsquelch when I turn it on until I hit the reset or SV buttons, and other times it will just beep. If I push the SV button when there is no message stored it gives a beep and seems to switch between whether the pager unsquelches on startup or not.

I do not have a manual for this pager so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It sounds like a bad component or loose solder joint under a component. Usually the three large chips
but this takes a hot air station to reflow the solder.
I wish I could offer a better solution outside of sending it in for repair.
