Adding a emergency button to a Saber 3

Post by ffemt1764 »

Hello all.

I am trying to add a secure/clear switch with emergency button to a Saber 3 that only has the secure/ clear switch. What all is involved in this swap? Just removing the old switch and putting the new one in? I need all the help and info I can get so I do this right an ddon't break my radio.

Thanks! :o

Do you have a emergency batwing switch? Its the one with the raised center. If you do, all it takes it to remove the case. Then take a small thin flat blade and GENTLY spread the little metal clip just under the topof the frame near the top of the switch. You may need to use another small flat blade to Gently pry the switch up. Replace it with the emergency. Push down til its seated and you hear a small click.. thats it

I have the p/n at home. I'll edit this with the p/n when I get there.

Forgive the late response, it's been a very long night on the road. You have the correct p/n but now it's an NTN5068B. Good night!

I do have an emergency batwing switch, I saved it out of a DOA radio, is this metal clip you refer to like a c clip? what about the ribbon cable that goes to the switch?

The switch stays. You dont have to do anything with it The part with the knob is like a plunger the switch is set up to work with the new batwing switch..
