Alert tone in place of vibe

Post by WB2IID »

I ran across a M4 pager programmed thus:

A - sel cal F1 tone alert
B - mon F1 tone alert
C- mon F1 vibe
D - sel cal F1 vibe

In C and D positions the radio powers up in vibe mode but emits the alert beeping when it decodes tones. I added other tones in C and D and they vibe.

I swapped the settings so that A and B are vibe and C and D are tone. No change. I also tried a couple of other things that I thought would overwrite the programming, but no soap.

This is pretty weird, like the storage PROM is hosed or something. By the way this is with the windows based program. I have not yet tried the original DOS version but that's my next step.

Anyone else seen this before?

Thanks,

Joe

Check the "priority alert" setting. If enabled, it will do exactly what you have.
