Problems with Spectra A4 remote Head

Post by firefighter105 »

Hey all

I have a bit of a problem. Over the last couple of uses, my spectra A4 has been having trouble with the speaker cutting in and out. So today, as I was installing my new console i made, I investigated. Turns out Pin 43 broke. This is one of the two speaker pins on the back of the remote head. Now i have a broken radio and not sure what to do. I am not handy myself with this stuff yet, and I am looking for advice.

Jason,

Is this the later style cable?

The two speaker leads do not pass thru the control head. They double back to the two pin jack.

Will, the pins do connect with the cable. The cable that plugs into the back of the head from the main radio unit has two pin spots for radio, and one of the one that is broke is the one that i need. It appears that it broke off inside the radio.head somehow. Damn things that i can't fix.

Jason,

Got the photos.
I looked in my books and the pin, 43 x Speaker Audio Hi (Output) (BLK/ORG Wire) is jumpered to pin 44 IN the control head Interface board. Speaker Audio Hi (Input) from radio. So the speaker lines loop thru on the interface board and not in the cable.

So let me see if I can get a replacement male connector.

Yes I have a listing for the male connector about $40 and it should not be hard to replace if you have a Pace. If not I can change it out no problem.

Or, look for another Control head housing with the interface board. They are used with A4, A5 and A7 heads AND the System 9000 cabling.

Heya will

I dropped it off to someone here who owns a small radio repair business. I didn't know this untill i asked around. I am goin to see what he says first.

BTW, would you know where I could pick up another good quality A4 head and the cable. Reason why is that i have a High Power (110 watt) unit and i want to run the second control head as well for a command setup in the rear of my Explorer.
