Extending bandsplit on 122LS-series

Post by Victor Xray »

Has anyone modified, hacked, or tweaked the P/M1225LS series radios for freqs above the spec'd bandsplit of 450-470Mhz? Using the old shift-key method, I can enter freqs up to 480Mhz, but nothing past that. I have scoured the .exe file with a hex editor and tweaked some fields that translate to 470 but the results are either no change in the program, or the program crashes (even with a corrected checksum).

Just curious if anyone has attempted this bandsplit bump before and has successfully programmed freqs above 480Mhz.

I've done 470-475 stuff, but 480+? You'd think the VCO wouldn't lock there or not be good for the radio - possibly both.

Oh of course I would not expect it to retain its original specs outside its rated bandsplit. But I bet it will work good-enough.
