Spectra Dash Mount will not power up

Post by USGOVTECH »

Hi,

Have a spectra dash mount, it appears that the control head has a problem powering up the radio. Switching control heads and radio powers up. Any suggestions.

I'm having trouble remembering the specifics, but let me ask: Do you have ignition sense going to Pin 5 of the accessory connector on the back of the radio?

Normally, you need B+ on Pin 5 for the radio to power up. I seem to recall that there was a mod that could be made to a control head to end-run this, and that may be your situation.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

There is also the problem with the IGN circuit trace on the control head board burning up. Kind of hard to troubleshoot without a extension cable so you can work on the back of the controlhead board.
