VHF Maratrac Logic Board Blanking

I have a fully functional VHF Range 2 Maratrac. My question is does anyone know if you need to blank the logic board and reconfigure it to get Range 1 operations? Or is is possible that it will take a range 1 code plug and work that way? If the first, can anyone blank one for me?
