T3011DX charger ?

Post by WayneR »

I recently acquired a Motorola model NLN8856 charger and T3011DX keyloader. My question is the red charge light never goes out when I place a battery in the charger (after 24+ hours). There is only one LED but I would assume the light might go out or change color when the charge cycle is complete. Anyone know how long to leave the battery in the charger or is there something I am missing here?

The 8856 has only one light. It's obviously the el-cheapo version
of the automatic MX charger. The one light probably means the
unit is a manual charger. That being the case the red light never
will go out until/unless you remove the battery, which should not
be left in for more than 16 hours.

The fully automatic MX chargers are nearly giveaway items now
at hamfests, going for $5/$10 tops. If you got one of these, with
the red and green lights (LEDs) you would be better off.

OK, it's a manual charger. I should have deduced as much since the date stamp on the unit is 1987! I will limit charge time going forward to 16 hours. Thanks for the information.

P.S. - txshooter, if you find an operable unit that you are willing to give up, PM me!
