Emergency Trigger???

Post by themedic66 »

Yes, I was referring to the actual button, what else can the button be programmed to do on an AS3 and a Saber 1E?

-------------

Hello again,

Is there anything else that an emergency trigger can do besides alert a dispatcher that a unit is in trouble?

It depends on what you you mean by the trigger, if you mean the actual button on the radio then yes, you can usually program it for other options other than just acting as an emergency button, but if you mean the emergency option, then all it can do is send an emergency alert, which depending on the system can do different things.

It can also do emergency call as well as emergency alert depending on how the system manager wants the system to work.
We only use call.

this also depends on the radio you have, as to what options are available.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Hello folks,

I have a related question regarding the emergency trigger at the back of the motorola radios via the accessory connectors. I see that many of them have this feature. If programmed / setup properly, how would they be triggered if I were to wire a hidden button switch? Do they use positive trigger input or negative? It is a broad question covering all radios and was wondering if they can all use the same trigger function?

Thanks,
Sean

As far as the astro sabers go, I know they're similar to the XTS3000s. I use mine as the scan button, and I can set it to do anything else any other button can do.

What's available is:

Light
Monitor
Direct/Talkaround
Emergency
Phone
Scan
Unprogrammed
Select Call
Call Alert
Volume Set Tone
Status
Message
Nuisance Delete
Call Response
Dynamic Priority
Kaypad Lock

Sean,

On a Spectra the switch is normally closed from ground to the EMERG line. Open circuit 'triggers' the radio.

Does this also applies to all other classes of radios as well?
