Centracom II+ CRT CIE on Gold Elite? Possible?

Is it possible to use a later-model Centracom Series II Plus CRT CIE unit on a COIM under Gold Elite? Will it work? Trying to figure out if I can just upgrade the CEB and PC's for a test CCGE setup.

The upgrade from II+ CRT to ELite was return the CIE and get a new one at a discount.
Based on this and that the circuitry is very different no.

Interestingly enough, the II+ CRT CIE that I have has 1997 firmware in it, and the board is nearly identical to a Gold Elite CIE... I wonder if the later ones are cross-compatible.

The Gold CIE will work on a CCII+ system but the CCII+ CIE will not work on a Gold system.
