MSF 5000 PL Encoder Questions

Post by ve9xf »

Hello,

I have a couple of questions concerning the encoding of PL tones with an MSF 5000 (C74CXB7106BT):

1) In the RSS, is it possible to disable a PL from being encoded? If so, how? I can't find how to disable it and entering a zero value tone doesn't seem to work either;

2) Is there an adjustment for the PL encoder deviation level? If so, where? I looked in the EPOTs section of the RSS and there seems to be none there;

3) Can the reverse-burst timing be adjusted or is it fixed to a determined amount of time before the carrier drops?

Thanks!

What radios do you own?: X9000, HT1550XLS, MTS2000, etc

Don,

In reply...

1: Yes, you can transmit just carrier. You have to select the no coded squelch option. I want to say it's on the mode screen. Just put CSQ in the field where the PL code currently is.

2: This is where the compensation portion of the alignment of the station. Follow the aligment procedure and you will see how to set the adjustment for DPL waveform. Once you have this done, the PL level will fall into place.

3: No...It's fixed. Not adjustable.

I am asleep now. Wake me when it's time for me to go home.

Thanks George! I put CSQ the TC PL field and it worked fine.
