RSS question

Post by jban »

Ok, moderators please don't gig me. Just seeking some assistance.

My VFD has an avenue to obtain a number of VHF Saber III's and dash mount Spectras for basiclly nothing. I need to obtain the RSS for this. We have an account with Motorola and I just got off the phone with them. I was informed that the RSS is no longer in stock and Motorola no longer considers it to be controlled. I was told to "Google it and try to find a copy".

Can someone help us out on where we can get a copy of the software since Motorola doesn't sell it anymore?

We are on 800mhz but still need VHF for mutual aid with our neighbors until they are able to migrate, plus our paging of course. I just don't want to spend big money on new VHF radios to use for a couple of years.

Thanks for any assistance. I would not post this if I could get the RSS from /\/\

This has been discussed here for sometime.

The RSS is NLA, but you still can not legally share it under the license agreement signed with Motorola.

Where are you and your Fire Department located? There may be members here that would be willing to help your agency with programming. Otherwise, again we fall under the old....Can;t Buy/Sell/Trade RSS/CPS even though it is not available any longer. Planned obsolecense by Motorola.

The good news there are enough people out there that have it you should not have a problem gettign someone to help you with the programming.......

There are enough members here that can program them for you, or get you in contact with a local shop that may be able to do it at a reasonable price.

Motorola's response is funny.. Its like they know its out there. We just cant tell you how or where...

It sure would be great to be able to post a recording of that conversation on the web somewhere...

While that would be interesting, it wouldn't matter. The rules here are: no trading of RSS/CPS. Period. Don't care what Moto says - unless they send a signed, notarized letter to the administration stating that the distribution of NLA RSS is authorized here.

I'm not going to toss the lock yet... but please keep this subject on topic. This is a sensitive issue.

Thanks TVSJR.

I knew this might be touchy but needed to get some direction.

Thanks to all for the input and support.

TVSJR, it might be good to go ahead and close this thread to prevent it from getting off topic. My questions have been answered. Thank you.
