MCS2000 "FAIL 1/90" Hardware Problem or ...?

Post by Leadenwah »

I'm getting " FAIL 1/90 " on an MCS2000 Model 2.
Is this fail code ONLY a hardware problem or could a programming error provoke this message as well ?

In Bat Labs MCS2000 section, it is suggested that programming an MCS2000 with OLDER software that it was last programmed with will zap the radio.
So, would I also get " FAIL 1/90 " after someone had done that or would it be a different error?

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Fail 01/90 on both the MCS2000 AND its portable brethren, means a hardware failure. Usually caused by a defective IC.

Thanks very much.

I've read in the Bat Labs section about a voltage regulator which is given to falling off inside of the radion not in the control head.

If you got this after you had programmed the radio, you can be 100% sure, that the codeplug is corrupted.

When I got the radio it had a broken control head clip which was replaced only to get " FAIL 1/90 ". So, it came that way, used. Seller says it works fine and has no codeplug is seems.

With other radios I've put in a newer version codeplug and it worked. The Bat Labs info suggests that the MCS2000 is more difficult in many regards.

The MCS could have been written with DOS-RSS or with CPS as I have tried to write to the radio without success. I am able to read the existing codeplug even though the radio otherwise unresponsive.

Any suggestions on how to get the corrupted codeplug out ? The newest vesion I have is CPS R02.02, but I'm sure there's something newer, however,
I don't think that it would have had the newest sofware used on it, all things considered.

Many thanks for this help.
