Add conventional channels to MTX850/950?

Post by John G »

Is there a way to have more than 8 conventional channels on these? How do you go about deleting a trunked system? Every time I have tried, I get a message that says something like" There's a reference to it. Can't delete."
Thanks

You can put 9 conventionals in a 850, thats it.

You can't delete the trunked personality and systems out of the radio. You have to leave at least one. The radio was designed for folks that mostly have the majority of channels with talkgroups/subfleets, and 1 or 2 talkarounds. Same problem in the GTX's.

Thanks for the reply. My radio won't accept but 8 conventionals. I thought 9 too, but 8 is it. This particular radio has 2 trunked systems. I thought I could delete 1. I guess it doesn't really matter, I can assign all 16 knob positions to the 8 conventional channels I have. When I have the time, I plan on playing with the software to see what I can do. I did notice that they encrypt the codeplug. That seems to be the trend with "M" these days. What have they got to hide? Guess I'll have to load up "LGcommspy" and look at what the computer is saying to the radio. That's why I generally go with Kenwood.
